GUANGXU SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN IRON-RED AND OF THE PERIOD (1875-1908)

The bowl is potted with deep curved sides rising to a straight foot rim, enameled in vibrant tones with four roundels containing various scholar’s objects including auspicious vases filled with flowers and ears of grain, lanterns and auspicious fruits, all reserved on a yellow ground with fruiting double gourds and flowering vines below a band of keyfrets, the interior with a medallion enclosing a phoenix and a dragon in pursuits of a flaming pearl amidst stylized clouds, the base with the six character reign mark.
